Catharsis was down in Austin, Texas this past weekend to produce the second annual Lawyer4Musicians Showcase during the music festival portion of SXSW. The talented lineup included a diverse blend of both up-and-coming and well-established indie bands and hiphop emcees. This year’s showcase was held at Aces Lounge right on the main strip on 6th St. Red Stripe dropped off some beer (thanks Cornerstone!) which evaporated in a matter of moments, as the venue became packed to capacity with well over 800 people during the course of the show.

Cool Calm Pete hosted the afternoon’s festivities and even dropped an acapella verse to the crowd clapping along. Opening act You, You’re Awesome surprised attendees with their funky 8bit-infused sound. French Horn Rebellion entertained the crowd with their electro set and on-stage shenanigans. Hey Champ rocked the stage with their smooth synth and guitar sound. Bad Rabbits lit up the stage with their hi-energy, funk-punk performance. Kidz in the Hall kicked off the hiphop portion of the show with a strong set. The Cool Kids threw an amazing performance that made the crowd go buckwild thanks to Aces’ banging bass-heavy sound system. Highlights included special surprise performances by Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes during 88-Keys‘ set and an impromptu Dilated Peoples performance (minus DJ Babu) with Evidence and The Alchemist for Rakaa’s set. Check out the slideshow below, and keep posted for some exclusive video footage.

All in all, we can most definitely say that we rocked Austin, and can’t wait to do it again next year!
