The Superior Interior Tournament, the first-ever live digital design competition of its kind debuted at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Two finalists representing the nation’s top design firms, Gensler and Langdon Wilson, went head-to-head for the inaugural championship title. From simple drafting tools such as paper, colored pencils and clay, to the use of highly advanced digital gear including the Wacom Cintiq 21UX interactive pen displays, Teams Gensler and Langdon Wilson were able to create innovative and thoughtful presentations for the audience and their judges, which included esteemed industry peers Cameron Sinclair, Eames Demetrios, and Pam Light. Although the designers worked with traditional tools, they each took a shot at the 21-inch Wacom Cintiqs that double as both a computer monitor and a writing tablet, allowing them to do their drafting work directly onto the screen. With MC/comedian Paul Kim navigating the show and DJ White Shadow mixing it up on the turntables, the two heavy hitters battled it out until the end with their colleagues cheering them on.
